My name is Elsbeth, originally I am from Switzerland, married an English man and we have 3 grown up children. We moved to Lincoln in1986 where I was nursing until I felt led by God to retire in 2000. I was wondering how God would lead me on? Very soon I found myself doing the Foundation course at Art college.
During the first year I felt inspired to paint some biblical events like Easter, Good Friday, And one followed another till over 2-3 years I painted about 26. They look a bit like ‘ paper stainglass windows, that’s why I call them windows. I love working with colours, so mostly I use Acrylics as medium.
I’ve started off with the event of the Resurrection followed by the Crucifixion and went through the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. I see my windows as a means to talk about the Gospel, that’s what I feel called to do.
I got all the windows in the size of A1 for when I go places to talk about them. If people want to buy on of the paintings it’s usually in poster form A3,I also got greeting cards and cards which are laminated for mission purposes.
My favorite window is the one called ‘Wholeness through brokenness’, Christ on the cross takes our brokenness into Himself and gives us His Righteousness as a free gift when we accept His forgiveness. That’s what happens at conversion. But I experienced a lot of emotional brokenness, and many born-again Christians, even though well in their spirit, are emotionally sick or broken. We need to bring our brokenness to Jesus, He wants to heal us and to make us whole.
